The Broadsword

Firstly a big thanks to those that gace some input into the Hurricane.  I really like the ship and welcome inputs on using her to the fullest.

I am trying my best to look at the minmatar fleet in general and determine practical uses for the ships in the line.

The Broadsword is a ship I do fly but I wanted other people’s thoughts on the setup of this really nice ship.  A Passive beast in it’s own right.  Large Shield Extenders in the middle slots plus an  Invulnerability field II provides a REALLY solid tank. 2 rigs compliment this setup

EHP is 130K!

Resists are REALLY high 88.5~EM, 81.6 ~ Ther,79.6 ~ Exp, 83% Kin

This thing can take a HUGE beating.

She is NOT fast  300.94 M/s,

She lock terribly fast 7.34 Seconds for a Crow is a little too slow…..that’s not the job.

Keeping something bottled up is her job.

DD resistance check is Phenomenal

  1. since we have 4 PDS mods and EFT hits 827,784 and recharges at a massive 918… Ive tried all kinds of chanages adding purgers … instead of extenders .. shield power relays .. nothing comes close…… reason why the EFT is so big is because ay lvl 5 u get 0.03% per lvl resistances … .0.05 for the sips special bonus per lvl….. and 0.5 *5.. all this weighted the resitances come to … ready for it 99.48% 98.96% 98.75% 99.17%….. so say u are attacked by a fleet of Armarrian ships .. all with EM dmg for sake of arguement.. and the fleet DPS is say 10000 for 20 ships ….actual dmg done to ur shields which are [2625 (LSE II) + 1582 (broadsword)] * 1.05^4 (4 PDS) * 1.15^2 (2 CDFE II) = 6762.78 HP is … 52 dps… ie u can take well over 2 mins of fire assuming no shield recharge …from a fleet of ships doing 10000dps….most ships are destroyed in 1 or 2 volleys …..

    Camping fit is assuming you're not so much roaming as sitting on your bum camping a gate for hours at a time – you don't really need a MWD in that case. An extra SPR over the DC would add a bit more tank to the fit, however just running the two invulns and bubble is on the bleeding edge of cap sustainability for the ship.

    The roaming fit above is something I took often into nullsec, solo. It could work in a small gang vs small gang, as HICs are often ignored due to their assumed awesome tank. It puts out decent damage, as is able to flee when necessary with its decent align time. One thing I'd consider swapping is the web for a scrambler: sounds silly with the infinite point, but due to MWDs being favored over ABs in nullsec, you'd actually get better speed reduction with a scrambler over a webifier.

  3. Great catch with the ODI and the lack of MWD. For better or for naught I ahte MWD. Tes I know it is needed, I'm certainly not arguing that.. I hate em. Just cause I ahte em I tend to overlook things but you are quite right. Staying on top of the guy trying to bail is critical! Great points all! Thanks !

  4. I will give you some input. As you count with Doomsday Device, I will pretend you want to be heavy interdictor in 0.0.

    Every ship that do not move 1000m/s with Afterburner in 0.0 have to have MicroWarpDrive. There is nothing to discuss about it, especially by dictors. Dictors are the ships that will run after enemy to bubble it. You will be expected to be 1st on gate and if sling bubble catch you, it is you who will have to make it to the gate as soon as possible. Mobility is must in 0.0. — Missing!

    You properly fitted Damage Control Unit II for higher buffer in armor and structure. Damage Control Unit will as well increase a bit your shield resistance by 12.5% of what you miss to 100%. It is not much, but in high-resistance you touch it counts. — Check

    Warp Disruption Field Generator is by Heavy Interdictor sort of must. — Check

    Now there are two ways you can follow based on what you intend to do. If you are fleet interdictor or a gang interdictor. The fleet interdictor will go way of maximal buffer tank, rendering his damage for meaningless. Gang interdictor will want to go moderate with some damage output and probably will like to use some extra snaring modules like webifier.

    A. Fleet HIC

    All your left mid and low slot and rigs will build massive tank. You are building buffer tank maximizing its amount of EHP, its regeneration is irrelevant. You will put up resistance and you will try to get as much HP as possible. Resistance means active hardeners for most of it and raw buffer shield extenders. Rigs should improve this. Opposite to armor tank there is missing hardener adding +x% of shield. That is possible to do only with Core Defense Field Extender rig. If you use 2 rigs for extra resistance, you will spare bit money but result is good enough. Overdrive Injector brings nothing to your ship, out with it. If you need to move, you will use MWD anyway.

    If we take your build as a base and add 10MN MWD and 3rd Power Diagnostic System, we get "just" 114.117 EHP. That can be better! You would have to remove 1 Large Shield Extender, 2 of your resistance rigs and replace these by 2 Core Defense Field Extender rigs and add 2nd Invulnerability Field. Voala! 131.885 EHP.

    We have most stuff done. Now it is time to finish left high-slots.

    1st you add cloak! If you bring cloaking heavy interdictor into fleet, your FC will love you! Cloak adds great possibilities for setting up traps around the gates, bubbling station surroundings. You can be that most deadly scout out there. There is nothing more mean as cloaking heavy interdictor…

    The rest probably guns. You will run with guns into CPU problems, but as your damage is meaningless, you can use even just Dual 180mm AutoCannons.

    B. Gang HIC

    Gang needs would be slightly different to fleet HIC. You will probably like to have some snaring module like webifier. You can make such trade as you plan to hold less incoming damage on you. As next you will drop cloak to be able to target in some reasonable time and you will like to have tad stronger guns, 220mm autocannons will do.

    Based on needs of your gang you can either further loose tank for more damage–swap 1 Power Diagnostic System II for Gyrostabilizer II.

    In all cases never create some sort of bond between your HIC and you. They will be dying like flies! 🙂
